There is lots of useful information on this page. In addition to the standard formatting detailed in these pages, we have provided several extensions, whose basic use is described here. We have also written a script which will help you to convert from latex into wiki markup. It isn't perfect, but should speed up the conversion of existing articles.
- Flash Animations
- To include a flash animation in the page, upload the file as normal via the file upload page. To include it in your page, use the markup <flash>file_name.swf|width=xxx|height=yyy|name=file_name_no_extension|background_colour_in_hex</flash>. The last two parameters are optional.
- Quantum Circuits
- To include a quantum circuit, enclose a circuit description using the syntax of qasm inside tags <qasm>circuit code goes here</qasm>. To set the width of the image, include a line (within the tags) that says Wiki_Width=xxx. Note that this does not change the size of the generated image, just how it's displayed.
- References
- We have provided a rudimentary references system. To include a reference in your document, you have to use the tag <ref>bibtex_name</ref>. You can even provide a comma separated list of references between the tags. Then, when you want to insert the list of references in your document, just use the tags <bibliography></bibliography>. To provide the information about the reference, you have to update the references database via the special page with references database for Quantiki.
- Formulae
- The maths support is quite sophisticated now - you can basically enter tex placed between tags <amsmath></amsmath> (these tags should be used for equations that you want to place on separate lines), or between tags <math></math> if you want the equations to appear in the text.
- Maps and locations on maps
- The Google Maps Extension adds features to the "Edit" page to make it easy to define a map and plot points. It inserts a button that says "make map" to the toolbar buttons. Clicking this button will bring up an editor's map. The user can drag and zoom as normal, as well as search for places. However, single-clicking on the map will place a marker on the map and a balloon will appear with options to insert text (a link to the groups, say) and to save. Now the point is once you are finished editing the map, adding points, moving them around and so forth, these changes are not automatically saved yet. You have to copy the source (below the text "Below is the Wiki mark-up to create the map above") by hand into the text form below to replace the old map... this is a bit complicated but a lot easier than the older version :)
- Case convention for title of articles and names of categories
- Unless the title of the article you wish to create a page for is a proper noun, do not capitalise second and subsequent words.
- In categories names:
- put of, in (i.e. prepositions [1]) and and, for (i.e. conjunctions) in lowercase form,
- capitalise other words.
