The positions are within the Quantum Optics and Quantum Simulators Group lead by Dr. Dimitris G. Angelakis in the Centre of Quantum Technologies (CQT) (http://www.quantumlah.org). The group's research interests span most aspects of theoretical quantum optics and its applications in implementations of quantum computation and quantum simulations.

Highly motivated candidates, with a strong research background in theoretical quantum optics, are sought to join a CQT group lead by Dimitris G. Angelakis. The current group consists of four postdocs, two PhD students and a number of visitors. The research to be undertaken lies in the interface of quantum optics, condensed matter and QIP with emphasis in the simulation of quantum many body effects with atomic, photonic and polaritonic systems.

PhD Contract MINECO-FPI 2013
A fully funded PhD Fellowship-Contract in Quantum Information and Strongly Correlated Systems is available to work under the
supervision of Prof. Miguel A. Martin-Delgado at the Departmento de Fisica Teorica I, Facultad de Ciencias Fisicas, Universidad
Complutense (Madrid, Spain). It covers a period of 4 years: 2-year fellowship plus 2-year contract.
The Fellowship-Contract is funded by the Research Grant FIS2012-33152 of Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad (MINECO)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in the quantum information group of Professor Vlatko Vedral within the Oxford Martin School Programme on Bio-Inspired Quantum (www.oxfordmartin.ox.ac.uk/institutes/quantum). The selected researcher will collaborate with experimental groups within the Oxford Martin School consortium.

We are looking for a suitably qualified, self-driven individual to carry out independent research with focus on non-equilibrium phenomena in open and closed (quantum) systems. This research is part of the ERC Starting Grant 2013 project ESCQUMA that aims at exploring the equilibrium and out-of-equilibrium physics of many-body systems formed by atomic gases of highly excited atoms – so-called Rydberg atoms. The researcher will be an integral part of a team conducting research on this new physical system in search for novel collective phenomena and technological applications.

We are happy to announce the launching of the Doctoral Programme in the Physics and Mathematics of Information: Foundations of Future Information Technologies (DP-PMI).

The DP-PMI aims at providing advanced curricular and research training in the recent developments and fundamental challenges in information sciences and technologies.

The DP-PMI is hosted by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the School of Science and Engineering of the University of Lisbon, in Portugal, and eight associated research centres.

There are open PhD and postdoc positions in the new experimental quantum gases group led by Leticia Tarruell at ICFO. The group's research will focus on simulating condensed-matter physics problems using degenerate Bose and Fermi gases in non-standard optical lattices. Specific topics of interest include graphene and topological phases, quantum phase transitions in magnetic systems and multi-orbital models.

This is the 21st edition of a series of workshops started in the 90s within a European project aimed at collaborating with Central-European countries. Since then, it has evolved into an important annual gathering of European researchers working in the field including the participants coming from around the world. The locations of the conference now go well beyond Central Europe, although the name has remained.

Start date: flexible.
Duration: up to 3 years.
Closing date for applications: September 15, or until the position is filled.
