PhD

Many theoretical challenges need to be solved in order to implement the first quantum networks. In this PhD position, you will have the opportunity to solve some of these practical challenges. You will join the theory group of David Elkouss in QuTech at TU Delft and will work in close collaboration with the experimental groups of Ronald Hanson and Tim Taminiau and with the theory group of Stephanie Wehner.

We are offering two fully funded three year appointments for a doctoral position pending acceptance into the Nanotechnology Doctorate at Tecnológico de Monterrey. The candidate will join our group efforts to explore quantum optics, integrated photonics and optical physics systems and their applications to information technologies.

Level: Ph.D.
Duration: 36 months.
Tuition Funding: Tec de Monterrey
Living Expenses Funding: CONACYT doctoral grant (~13,000 mxn per month, competitive in Mexico).

A fully-funded PhD student position is available at the Department of Mathematics at Nottingham Trent. The studentship will pay UK fees (currently set at £4121 for 2016/17 and are revised annually) and provide a maintenance stipend linked to the RCUK rate (this is revised annually and is currently £14,296 for academic year 2016/17) for up to three years. The project can be started in the Summer 2017.

We invite applications for experimental and theoretical post-doctoral researchers in the field of quantum optics, cold atoms, atom spectroscopy, and atom vapor cells. We offer a highly stimulating and energetic environment for experimental and theoretical atomic physicists and very competitive offers for both domestic and international applicants, including generous re-location packages. Applicants should have extensive experience in atomic physics and ultra-cold atoms.

At the Hector Fellow Academy you get the opportunity to realize a self-developed research project under supervision of Hector Fellow Prof. Immanuel Bloch. The Hector Fellows are a community of outstanding professors from different research institutions across Germany. They have been honored by the Hector Foundation for their merit in research and teaching within natural sciences, informatics, mathematics, medicine / psychology and engineering. At the Academy they pass on their expertise to prospective young scientists.
