Research Fellow (Quantum Information Processing/Quantum Many-Body Systems) at Queen's University Belfast

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for up to 33 months (from early September 2013), to undertake theoretical research in quantum effects in mesoscopic systems, including quantum many-body and hybrid systems.

Applicants will hold (or be about to obtain) a relevant PhD in one of the following fields:

• Theoretical quantum optics;

• Theoretical condensed matter physics;

• Theoretical quantum information processing.

The positions are within a CQT research project led by Dimitris G. Angelakis. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a strong research background mainly in theoretical quantum optics. Exceptional candidates from condensed matter theory and/or quantum information theory will also be considered.

The School of Mathematics and Physics of Queen’s University Belfast seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Quantum Information Theory by March 1st 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake research in Quantum Information Theory within the Centre for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics and to contribute to teaching in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to undertake administrative duties as assigned.
