After a PhD in experimental photonic quantum information with Prof Andrew White at the University of Queensland, Nathan undertook postdoctoral research in leading European research groups, including those of Prof Anton Zeilinger (University of Vienna), Prof Ian Walmsley (University of Oxford) and Assoc Prof Leo DiCarlo (QuTech, Delft University of Technology). A/Prof Langford has recently set up a new research group in experimental circuit QED at the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as an Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow, establishing a new state-of-the-art cryogenic quantum science laboratory. His research interests include quantum simulations, quantum computing, quantum tomography, quantum foundations, open and driven quantum systems, quantum chaos and microwave-to-optical frequency conversion. His group's main focus is currently on developing small-to-medium scale circuit QED quantum simulators using transmons.
