The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Quantum Computing to join its Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC) under the ERA Chair funded project (QUEST). The initial contract will be fixed-term until 31/12/2027, with potential renewal and tenure based on performance, funding, and organizational requirements.
The successful candidate will enhance the Institute's competencies in Quantum Computing, collaborate with faculty and research staff, and contribute to the graduate program by mentoring and teaching doctoral and Master's students. They will also develop research projects and build their own group in collaboration with the Center for Quantum Technology and Applications (CQTA) at DESY-Zeuthen in Germany.
Responsibilities include developing quantum computing algorithms and methods, benchmarking hardware, applying optimization problems and theoretical models, supervising Ph.D. students and Postdocs, and supporting the ERA Chair and Principal Investigator.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Quantum Information, physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent areas, strong academic and research records, experience in quantum information science and computing, a strong publication record, at least three years of relevant experience post-Ph.D., excellent English communication skills, and interpersonal and management skills.
