Lecture Series: Infinite-Dimensional Analysis in the Isospectrality Problem for the Schrödinger Equation
Lecture 1: From Classical Analysis to Infinite Dimension
Speaker: S. A. Titarenko
Abstract:
This is the first lecture in a five-part series devoted to infinite-dimensional functional analysis and its applications to the isospectrality problem for the Schrödinger equation. The lecture introduces the transition from classical finite-dimensional analysis to functional analysis, including linear, normed, and Hilbert spaces. It discusses Hilbert function spaces, Lebesgue and Sobolev completions, and wavefunction bases in pairs of Hilbert spaces. Particular attention is given to the new geometric and logical features of infinite-dimensional analysis, including disconnected sets and their role in the construction of Hilbert spaces.
