Abstract:

One of the most talked about uses of quantum computers is attacking cryptography. But the details are often a bit more murky. What parts of our security infrastructure are known to be vulnerable and why? And more importantly, what can we do about this? This talk will start with a brief introduction to the current state of cryptography and well-known (and a few new) quantum attacks on our ciphers, before moving on to a bit longer introduction to the developing field quantum-resistant encryption schemes and where we stand on their standardization and implementation.

BIO:
Jakub Bliźniuk is an undergraduate cybersecurity student at the Warsaw University of Technology, interested in quantum computing and its effects on the security landscape. He's representing Poland in cybersecurity for WorldSkills 2024 Lyon.
