We advertise an attractive fully funded PhD position within DAEDALUS, a new PhD program within the Berlin research landscape. The project is dedicated to recovering dynamical laws from data, within the sub-project "P3: multi-scale sparsity models" of DAEDALUS.
Quantum machine learning arises from the interplay of two fields of research, each one challenging in its own right: on the one hand, classical machine learning and artificial intelligence; on the other, quantum physics, with its growing list of fundamental insights and technological applications. This combination gives rise to fascinating possibilities and diverse lines of scientific inquiry.

Description of tasks:
The Physics of Information and Quantum Technologies Group, at Instituto de Telecomunicacoes (in Lisbon, Portugal), is seeking to hire a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. The position is available to start in January 2019 (earlier also possible), and is renewable beyond the first year.
The candidates are expected to have research experience in at least one of the following areas: quantum information theory, quantum computation, open quantum systems, quantum matter, quantum gravity.
Application timing
The project is to carry out theoretical research on the physics of atoms coupled to optical photons in waveguides. This research is conducted within the ErBeStA-consortium which is formed by European experimental and theoretical research groups.
The Institute of Physics at the University of Sao Paulo is inviting applications for an Assistant Faculty position in the field of
Quantum Information. This includes quantum computation, quantum communication, quantum metrology, and their correspondent physical implementations, as well as the possible relations of Quantum Information Science with fundamental physics through areas such as holography and topological materials. The Institute intends to boost its presence in Quantum Information Science and this position is a first step in that direction.
