Applications are invited for a Ph.D. position (graduate research assistantship) under the supervision of Yale Fan at the University of Idaho, USA, to start in Fall 2027.
Our research lies broadly at the intersection of theoretical physics and quantum information science. Areas of interest include quantum error correction, quantum complexity, quantum control, and quantum characterization and benchmarking, as well as interdisciplinary topics that borrow techniques from fundamental physics (particularly theoretical high-energy physics). We encourage and actively seek out collaborations with academic, industry, and national lab partners in the Pacific Northwest (including Idaho National Lab and Pacific Northwest National Lab).
Please apply directly through University of Idaho graduate admissions at https://futurevandals.uidaho.edu/apply/. Information about the physics Ph.D. program can be found at https://www.uidaho.edu/academics/degree-finder/physics-phd. The general graduate application deadline for Fall 2027 (priority consideration) is January 15, 2027. Questions about this position can be directed to yalefan@uidaho.edu.
