Job type:

Application deadline:

The Light-Matter Interactions for Quantum Technologies Unit (https://groups.oist.jp/light), headed by Prof. Sile Nic Chormaic and located at OIST Graduate University, invites applications for a postdoc or staff scientist to work on an existing experimental setup on cold Rydberg atoms and optical nanofibres. The position is for a start around mid-2024. For those with significant experience post PhD, the appointment may be at staff scientist level (fixed duration). Essential qualifications are a PhD in experimental cold atom physics, with a good publication record, and fluency in written/spoken English. The successful candidate should also have ability to think independently, conduct novel research, and work within a team.

If interested, you must be an experimentalist, know how to work with MOT-cooled atoms and ideally have Rydberg experience. Prior experience on the integration of nano-optics in cold atom systems is advantageous (e.g. optical nanofibres). If you do not hold or hope to soon hold a PhD on experimental cold atoms, you are not eligible to apply.
