The position
We are inviting applications for a full-time staff researcher in quantum error correction. This position will support MOTH’s long-term vision for early fault-tolerant and fault-tolerant quantum computers, helping to create algorithms that will bring quantum advantages to the Media and Entertainment industries (including games, graphics and music).
The successful candidate will join the MOTH Research team in Basel, Switzerland. They will collaborate with other members of the MOTH team to determine how to bring the advantages of QEC to early fault-tolerant algorithms. They will also collaborate with researchers in Switzerland via the NCCR SPIN, a Swiss consortium that supports the development of spin qubit quantum computers, to investigate tailored methods for QEC with spin qubits.
- Perform cutting-edge research on quantum error correction.
- Help design algorithms for early fault-tolerant quantum computers.
- Coordinate with quantum hardware vendors to tailor QEC and algorithms to their roadmaps.
- Present research findings at international conferences and publish results in high-impact scientific journals.
Your profile
- A PhD degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field. Exceptional candidates with a Masters degree will also be considered.
- An excellent track record in both academic study and research projects.
- Strong background in quantum error correction.
- Motivation to find novel applications of quantum computing for use in computer games, music and visual media.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
