Job Summary

Super- and subradiance are quintessential quantum effects of relevance across natural photosynthesis and quantum technologies. In this project we will create the first fully coherent, scalable, and controllable artificial platform for exploring, analysing and tailoring such effects in the condensed matter.

Open Positions for Postdocs and PhDs

Photonic linear optical networks are a promising platform for quantum information processing. The challenge in universal photonic quantum computing is its scalability. To scale up photonic quantum computing, one will need to achieve the stability of photonic sources, the tunability of linear optical interferometers, and the efficiency of photon number resolving detectors. All these requirements can be met in integrated photonics.

Quantum properties of integrated frequency combs for applications in computing, communications and sensing

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic candidate for a fully funded PhD studentship at the Institute of Photonics (www.photonics.ac.uk), University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK.

We have open PhD projects within an evolving area of nanophotonics, funded by an ERC Advanced Grant from the European Research Council. The overall goal of the project is to explore, experimentally as well as theoretically, new types of nanophotonic devices based on so-called Fano resonances. These devices have rich and interesting physics, largely unexplored, with the potential to drastically reduce the quantum noise of nanolasers and increase their speed.

We are offering one appointment for a postdoctoral scholar pending funds approval. The scholar will join our group efforts to explore quantum optics, circuit QED, cavity QED, quantum optomechanics, integrated photonics, and optical physics systems and their applications to information technologies at INAOE Monterrey. Particular projects will be discussed with the candidates on an individual basis.

We are offering three fully funded two year appointments for a master position pending acceptance into the Optics Master degree. at Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica. The candidate will join our group efforts to explore quantum optics, photonics and optical physics systems.

Duration: 24 months (12 months coursework, 12 months research)
Funding: CONACYT master degree grant.
Grant: Standard CONACYT master degree grant (~9,000 mxn per month competitive).
