Optical Clocks for Space Applications
Application deadline:
Tuesday, June 30, 2026
PhD and PostDoc positions are available in the PHOENYX project at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. PHOENYX aims to bring optical clock technology closer to real space applications by preparing core components of a compact strontium beam clock for an in-orbit demonstration. The project combines atomic physics, precision metrology, and space-system engineering, with possible tasks including laser spectroscopy on narrow optical transitions in strontium, design and testing of compact flight hardware, and data analysis or numerical modelling.
