A postdoctoral position opens in autumn 2012 at the Quantware group of the Laboratory for Theoretical Physics, CNRS and University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France (website http://www.quantware.ups-tlse.fr/). This position is funded by the LABEX NEXT in the framework of the grant ENCOQUAM (engineering of complex quantum matter waves) attributed to a team composed of the permanent researchers Bertrand Georgeot (theory) (webpage http://www.lpt.ups-tlse.fr/spip.php?article28)

The Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo will host the Canadian Summer School on Quantum Information from June 11-16, 2012. This school is the 12th edition of an annual event that brings together students from around the world to learn about quantum information processing. Previous editions of the school have been held in Calgary, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Toronto, and Waterloo.

Quantum measures play a key role in quantum interactions. In this paper, a variant simulation system – a variant double path model – is proposed that uses multiple variable logic functions and variant principle schemes applied to input/output relationships as a variant quaternion. Under this mechanism, a two-state system of quantum interactions can be simulated by the variant double path model. Visual distributions can be expressed by their probability, synchronous/asynchronous, and symmetry/anti-symmetry statistical properties.

The Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in Pisa (Italy) is a public institute for higher education with unique features: the selection of students – through specific public competitions – is based on merit only, classes are organized like seminars, teaching and research are closely linked, college life is an integrated part of the experience. Moreover, according to the best models of higher instruction in Europe, great space is devoted to international exchanges. The greatest resource of the Normale is the quality of its students.

Relativistic Quantum Information

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work with Dr Ivette Fuentes on an EPSRC funded project on the overlap of quantum information theory and relativity. The research is aiming at exploiting relativistic effects to improve quantum information tasks and finding applications of quantum information to foundational questions in gravity. Candidates must be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working with a variety of different people across discipline boundaries.
