The International Colloquium on Group-Theoretical Methods in Physics (ICGTMP) is a meeting point for scientists working on mathematical and numerical methods based on geometry and symmetry.
ICGTMP is the oldest conference series in the fields of geometry and physics further broaden and diversified due to the successful application of geometric and algebraic methods in life sciences and other areas. The conference has an interdisciplinary character. It aims to bring together experts and young researchers from different fields encouraging cross-disciplinary interactions.

This is a small and informal meeting on Quantum Control and Open Systems in the beautiful and picturesque town of Aberystwyth in Wales. There is no registration fee and everybody is welcome.

We'd like to announce the next Q+ hangout:

Date: 24th April 2012

Time: 14:00 British Summer Time

Title: Fundamental limitations for quantum and nano thermodynamics

Speaker: Jonathan Oppenheim (University College London)

The [http://quicc.net Summer School on Quantum Information, Computing and Control, QuICC], will be held in Aberystwyth, Wales, on August 27 - September 1, 2012.

The School, supported by the UK Institute of Physics, EPSRC and Queen's University, is aimed at PhD students and young postdocs with interests in atomic and molecular physics as well as quantum optics and quantum information.

Here is the (incomplete) list of speakers:

-Sougato Bose (University College London)
-Tobias Donner (ETH Zürich)
-Tom Field (Queen's University Belfast)
-Jimena Gorfinkiel (Open University)
-Jason Greenwood (Queen's University Belfast)
-Selim Jochim (University of Heidelberg
-Nella Laricchia (University College London)
-Jim McCann (Queen's University Belfast

Postdoctoral Positions in “Theoretical quantum optics and quantum simulations of many body effects”

The positions are within a CQT research project led by Dimitris Angelakis in the Centre for Quantum Technologies Singapore. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a strong research background in theoretical quantum optics. Exceptional candidates from condensed matter theory and/or quantum information theory will also be considered.

Submission deadline:

The conference focuses on causality and nonlocality in physics, with emphasis on its implications with time machines. In particular this issue will be dealt with from the viewpoints of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, two theories that, even though extensively verified on their own, are seemingly irreconcilable up today.

Maxwell’s demon is still alive. Even though Landauer and Bennett allegedly exorcised him, we are witnessing his vigorous activity in
the recent literature in thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, quantum information, and information science. Moreover, the progress
in experimental techniques now allows us to see him in the lab. We are now more able than ever to gossip about his whereabouts and activities
in nature. It should be the right timing to provide researchers in relevant communities with an opportunity to share their ideas. The
