A joint project of University College Cork and Trinity College Dublin on Shortcut-Enhanced Quantum Thermodynamics will be funded by SFI in the Frontiers for the Future programme. Therefore, there will be two PhD positions available starting in September/October 2020:

The Quantum Information and Computation Initiative (QICI) of the Computer Science Department at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) invites applications for PhD Fellowships for the academic year 2021/2022.

QICI is home to a vibrant research community, organised in two research groups led by Professors Giulio Chiribella and Ravi Ramanathan. We support an open research culture, where original thinking and academic merit are encouraged and nurtured.

The Sydney Quantum Academy has recently announced a new round of PhD scholarships, with a deadline already on the 27th of April. I'm taking expressions of interest to apply with me as supervisor at Macquarie University and to work on Quantum Control, Open Quantum Systems and related subjects. I will only support one candidate this round. To have a decent chance, you'd ideally have research experience in the area and/or a peer-reviewed publication in Maths, Physics or Computer Science.

We are the Quantum Circuits Research & Engineering Workgroup (qcrew) in Singapore. We focus on building quantum devices using superconducting circuits to provide crucial building blocks for quantum computers and versatile testbeds for exploring novel phenomena in quantum physics. QuSoft is looking for a PhD candidate for developing and analyzing new quantum algorithms for inherently quantum problems. This position is part of Maris Ozols VIDI project "Mathematics of Quantum Algorithms", funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The goal of this project is to develop quantum algorithms for problems where both the input and output are quantum states as opposed to classical bit strings.
