We are currently offering a PhD position in the field of quantum foundations and quantum information theory. The position is associated with the research group of Borivoje Dakic at the Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna, Austria (see https://dakic.univie.ac.at/research/ for research topics). In the framework of a DFG-project, a PhD position is available and to be offered to highly motivated student who intends to enhance her/his scientist carrier in the field of semiconductor quantum optics. She/he should have a high interest in basic experimental research and like working in an interdisciplinary environment. The research will be carried out in the Nano Optics group at the Institute of Nanostructure Technologies and Analytics, INA. The focus of the project is to grow, process (in clean room), characterize, and embed in resonators and pin-diode low density InP- based QDs.
This PhD project is aimed at developing highly sensitive methods for detection of magnetic fields with optically pumped magnetometers. The magnetometer will be based on laser-interrogation of room-temperature cesium or rubidium atomic vapor. The project will include work on designing a prototype magnetometer. Quantum techniques such as spin-squeezing can be used for improving the magnetic field sensitivity. Possible applications of this magnetometer include measuring bio-magnetic signals from the heart or brain. Such measurements can be done in the magnetically shielded room at Uni.
Six PhD positions in theoretical quantum optics and quantum information science are available at the Centre for Quantum Optical Technologies (QOT) at the University of Warsaw. Successful candidates will work in a diverse environment including theorists and experimentalists on fundamental properties of quantum systems, such as quantum coherence and entanglement, and their applications in quantum technologies, such as quantum metrology, sensing, communication, and computation.

We seek for a talented and independent graduate student who wishes to develop her/his scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment. This doctoral degree project will be carried out in the quantum photonics group led by Ana Predojevic (http://qphotonics.fysik.su.se). The successful candidate should have interest in quantum technologies, specifically quantum information and communication.
PhD opportunities are available for work in quantum information theory at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
The main areas of interest are quantum walks and quantum games, with also possibility of work on quantum coding theory.

Quantum Experiments
IBM Research is seeking Research Staff Members with outstanding background in experimental quantum computing, quantum control, and microwave measurements. Candidates will focus on improving quantum gates in multi-qubit systems and are expected to work closely with theorists to model device physics and develop novel gate implementations in superconducting qubits. Rich collaboration with other members of the quantum computing team is expected.
