The Quantum Networks team at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel is looking for a talented and highly motivated PhD student to work on waveguide-QED with cold atoms.
The position is to join our state-of-the-art experiment where cold atoms are interfaced with the evanescent field of a nanofiber. The research will focus on implementing quantum information processing protocols, from linear operations such as quantum memories to optical nonlinearities with increased atom-light coupling. We are in particular interested in harnessing collective atomic phenomena in the Bragg configuration.
Quantum- and physics-inspired optimization has attracted lots of attention in recent years, as fundamentally novel paradigms towards solving large-scale combinatorial problems. The underlying principle is to encode a given problem into the natural dynamics of physical systems, and to achieve potentially stronger convergence and higher precision through careful external control. Physics-inspired optimization algorithms, such as coherent Ising machines and simulated bifurcation, mimic the dynamical properties of physical systems on conventional hardware – with the goal to inherit certain features, such as natural convergence towards low-energetic states. At Huawei, we investigate a wide range of topics related to quantum- and physics-inspired optimization, from the most fundamental mathematical structures, deep understanding of physical models, to high-performance implementation of novel optimization architectures.
We have openings for talented early-career scientists with strong track record in experimental and theoretical quantum physics and are ready to take up a leadership role in the group to spearhead new research initiatives. As part of the team, there will be ample opportunity to explore your own ideas and participate in grant-writing processes.
Potential projects for experimentalist include: bosonic superconducting quantum systems, quantum error correction, materials for quantum computing, implementation of quantum algorithms on qudits, and many more!

OPTO 2022 is an international conference organized in Poland annually by students for students. The topics of the meeting include optics, photonics and related fields. We strive to provide students and young researchers from (mainly) mid-eastern Europe a chance to present and discuss their latest scientific achievements. By inviting notable scientists from all over the world as Invited Speakers, we aim to establish a high scientific standard.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc for the quantum information experimental research with trapped-ion systems.
We have two research topics (with supporting grants);
- An efficient ion-photon interface for quantum network
- A full-stack trapped-ion based quantum computing system with up to 5 qubits.
Proven expertise in AMO experiments and/or embedded systems will be valued.
If you're interested, please send me your CV and Statement of Research to Junki.kim.q@skku.edu.
Applications are now open for the position of PhD scholars at the Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education (CQuERE). The programme is a joint endeavour by TCG CREST and IIT Tirupati (IITT).
Quantum computing is offering a novel perspective for solving combinatorial optimization problems. To fully explore the possibilities offered by quantum computers, the problems need to be formulated as unconstrained binary models, taking into account limitation and advantages of quantum devices. In this work, we provide a detailed analysis of the Travelling Salesman Problem with Time Windows (TSPTW) in the context of solving it on a quantum computer. We introduce quadratic unconstrained binary optimization and higher order binary optimization formulations of this problem.
