The Cretan Matter Waves group at IESL FORTH in Heraklion (Greece) is looking for excellent candidates for a PhD and MSc positions to develop optics for space missions. This project will be supervised by Dr. Wolf von Klitzing and Dr. Dimitris Papazoglou.
We have recently received funding for the second round in the development of optical breadboard technologies for complex optical space missions with a special view towards Quantum-enhanced satellite missions.
The Cretan Matter Waves group at IESL FORTH in Heraklion (Greece) is looking for an excellent candidate for a PhD position in experimental matterwave interferometry with ultracold atoms. This project will be supervised by Dr. Wolf von Klitzing.

Overview: A well-funded UNSW Scientia Scholarship is available in a PhD project to study device-to-device quantum communication via satellites. The scholarship is fully funded for four years, covers all university tuition fees, carries a paid annual stipend of AUD 41,209 (indexed to 2019 rates), and an additional research/travel budget of up to AUD 10,000 per year. This Scholarship is open to applicants from any nationality.
Fully funded Ph.D. scholarships for foreign students are available within the first Italian inter-university PhD program in Quantum Technologies:

The PhD program is jointly offered by the University of Napoli Federico II, the National Council of Research (CNR) and the University of Camerino.
The starting date of the PhD program is expected to be October 2019.
The 9th edition of the International Conference on Quantum walks and Quantum Simulation will be held in Marseille, at the CIRM (Luminy campus), from January, the 20th to January, the 24th, 2020.
You can pre-register at this address: https://conferences.cirm-math.fr/2161.html
A first important note is that we will offer 40 full board places at the CIRM residence, which we would like to assign mainly to PhD students and young researchers.

Two postdoc positions in the area of quantum network implementations are available in Christoph Simon’s theoretical quantum optics group at the University of Calgary (see http://www.iqst.ca/people/peoplepage.php?id=225). Topics of particular relevance for the two positions include quantum memories for light, quantum repeaters, and microwave-to-optical quantum transduction.
