2022 Opening for Experimental Postdoctoral Position in circuit QED

Job type:

Application deadline:

Thursday, March 31, 2022

Research group:

We are looking for talented and motivated Postdocs to join our Superconducting Quantum Circuits lab (https://iqoqi.at/_groups/en/group-page-kirchmair) at the University of Innsbruck and IQOQI Innsbruck in Austria, for a project working on hardware efficient quantum error correction utilizing superconducting qubits coupled to high coherence resonators.

Join us if you want to contribute to a project which seeks to establish a radically new, alternative approach to realizing the fundamental building blocks of quantum computers with superconducting qubits.
HOW TO APPLY?

If you are interested, send an email to gerhard.kirchmair@uibk.ac.at, including a C.V., a motivation letter, and the name of at least two references.

Postdoc applicants should have proven research experience and have a strong interest in quantum mechanics and quantum information processing. Furthermore, a PhD in Experimental Physics is required, as well as knowledge on microwave engineering and electronics, cryogenic equipment as well as micro and Nano-fabrication. Ideally you received your PhD working on superconducting circuits or solid-state systems for quantum information processing or quantum optics experiments. An excellent command of the English language is essential.

Our group is strongly committed to strengthen the gender balance in Physics at all levels, we therefore particularly encourage applications from women.

Continuous hiring: The application will be considered upon reception and until filling of the available positions with a flexible starting time from 01.2022 to 12.2022.

ABOUT THE GROUP:
The superconducting circuits group is led by Prof. Gerhard Kirchmair and is located at the Institute for Experimental Physics at the University of Innsbruck as well as the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information - IQOQI of the Austrian Academy of Science. Our research is based on superconducting electrical circuits and Josephson junctions, which are used to realize a circuit quantum electrodynamics system for quantum information processing and quantum simulation as well as to realize quantum-hybrid systems.
