Applications are invited for a chair in theoretical Quantum Information Science within the School of Physics and Astronomy. The existing Quantum Information group consists of a reader, two lecturers, a Royal Society URF and a professor in experimental Quantum Information. The topics covered by the group include physical realizations of quantum computation, communication and cryptography, entanglement and computational complexity, BECs and optical lattices, quantum optics, topological quantum computation, and foundations and applications of quantum information.

Based within the Quantum Information Group, you will be a scientist of international standing working in any aspect of quantum information science, including, but not restricted to: quantum computation, communication and cryptography; simulation of quantum systems; condensed matter and solid state implementations; quantum error correction and fault tolerance; foundations of quantum mechanics. You will have an established record of publications in internationally recognised research journals and have the ability to attract Research Council and/or industrial funding for research grants either on an individual basis or in collaboration with other members of the University.

The salary will be within the professorial range - minimum £58,624.
