The KZN node of the South African National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NITheP) has one postdoctoral vacancy in the field of Open Quantum Systems and Quantum Information Processing and Communication.
The appointment will be made within the structure of the University of KwaZulu- Natal on a one–year contract basis, with the possibility of renewal for two additional years. Preferences will be given to candidates working on the application of the Theory of Open Quantum System to the design and implementation of quantum computers.
Duties: Maintaning a vigorous research programm, being involved with supervision and tutoring at graduate level.
Requirements: A relevant doctorate of high standing, a developing research record and demostrated research potential.
Commencement of duties: 01 March 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Closing date: Review of applications will begin on 8th February 2013 and continue until the position is filled.
