PhD fellow in realizing superconducting muliti-qubit devices

The Center for Quantum Devices and Station Q Copenhagen is looking to hire one or more PhD students to work on realizing superconducting multi-qubit devices to function as a small quantum computer. The realization will be based on gatemon technology controlled by FPGA-based waveform generators. Projects ranging from nanofabrication, device testing, to building classical control electronics are available. Applicants should have a background in Physics with either a Masters degree (for the regular PhD program), one year of Masters-level coursework (for the 4+4 PhD program) or an undergraduate degree in Physics from a US university (for the 3+5 PhD program).

Research involves of nanofabrication, low-temperature physics using a cryofree dilution refrigerator, rf signal generation and detection, rf electronics in general, programming, data analysis, interaction with theoretical physicists, and aptitude for scientific writing in English.

Your key tasks as a PhD student at Science are:

- To manage and carry through your research project

- Write scientific articles and your PhD thesis

Formal requirements
Applicants should have a MSc degree in physics, experience in experimental quantum device design, fabrication and measurement, data analysis, and programming and good English skills. As criteria for the assessment of your qualifications emphasis will also be laid on previous publications (if any) and relevant work experience.

Integrated MSc and PhD Scheme
The position is also available for candidates who are (or are eligible to be) enrolled at the faculty’s master programs in condense matter physics. Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently at a minimum DKK 306,667 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 42,361). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
