Job type:

Application deadline:

Friday, August 31, 2018

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mathematical Physics/Quantum Computing in the Department of Mathematics at the Technical University of Munich (Germany). Applicants should have a PhD in mathematics, theoretical physics or computer science, and have a special interest in/prior experience with quantum error correction, as well as continuous-variable quantum information theory.

The position is with the group of Prof. Robert König belonging to the research unit mathematical physics associated with Prof. Michael M. Wolf. The post forms part of the QCDA (Quantum Code Design and Architecture) network through the European QUANTERA programme with nodes in Sheffield, London, Delft, Paris and Munich. Further details on QCDA can be found at: http://www.qcda.eu.

The successful candidate will direct, develop and execute research towards the goals of the QCDA network, in particular Work-package 4 (Continuous variable architectures). Topics of interest include continuous-variable (CV) error-correcting codes, CV resource states and logical gates, and active noise suppression schemes. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on collaborative projects with other QCDA nodes and will attend network meetings and workshops.

Applications (sent to qcomputingattum@gmail.com) should include a CV, a short research statement, a list of publications and the names and contact details of senior scientists who could provide letters of recommendation.
