The Centre for Quantum Technology and Applications (CQTA) invites candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in Quantum Computing with a focus an Quantum Machine Learning. CQTA is a science-led centre at DESY Zeuthen, which enables researchers from universities, industry, and other research institutions to develop new applications for current and future quantum computers to address questions in science, industry and beyond.

About your role:
The selected candidate will be working with the group of Dr. Karl Jansen. The key duties of the position are:

  • Strengthen the research in Quantum Machine Learning at CQTA, including the development, building and testing of respective quantum algorithms
  • Contribute to the supervision of PhD students, especially those working an Quantum Machine Learning
  • Publish in high-impact journals, present results at workshops and conferences, and establish and strengthen links with other research groups in Germany and abroad
  • Do collaborative work with partners from public institutions and industry, and develop quantum solutions to real-world problems

About you:

  • PhD in physics, mathematics or quantum information theory or equivalent qualification
  • Background in the field of machine learning with background knowledge in Quantum Computing
  • Experience in supervising students
