Applications are invited from outstanding and highly motivated PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in quantum information theory, entanglement theory, or quantum many-body theory.
The positions are related to the ERC Consolidator Grant-funded research programme BeyondDFT. The Schilling group is expected to relocate to the University of Geneva on 1 September 2026.
Our research in quantum information theory focuses on developing a unified and operational framework for fermionic entanglement and correlation. A central objective is to clarify the relation between particle and mode entanglement and to establish rigorous complexity measures that replace heuristic notions such as static and dynamic correlation. The work combines tools from quantum information theory, many-body physics, and quantum thermodynamics, with the broader aim of sharpening the conceptual foundations of correlation and chemical bonding.
Application deadline: 15 March 2026
Start date: Flexible, ideally 1 September 2026
