Scope of Job
Trainee position to pursue specialized theoretical research in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics and condensed matter physics as a vital component of educational mission and professional career development. Research interests include quantum optics, quantum materials, superconductivity, and related interdisciplinary areas, with a primary focus on the quantum optics of correlated electronic systems. The position allows for broader exploration within these fields and provides opportunities for collaboration with experimental research groups in condensed matter physics. Works under minimal supervision with some latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment in conducting research and developing theoretical and computational approaches to quantum systems.
Description of Duties
Conduct research in theoretical AMO and condensed matter physics; develop analytical and computational models of quantum systems; perform numerical simulations relevant to experimentally realizable systems; analyzing and interpreting theoretical and experimental results; preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals; presenting research findings at scientific conferences and meetings; contributing to the preparation of research proposals, progress reports, and other research-related documentation; collaborating with experimental and theoretical research groups; and performing other job-related duties as required.
Required Education
Doctoral degree in Physics or a closely related field from an accredited university, completed by the appointment start date.
Preferred Experience
Demonstrated ability to conduct high-impact research in theoretical Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics or condensed matter physics. A record of scholarly achievement, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at major scientific conferences.
