Postdoctoral, PhD, and student positions in quantum optical technologies

The Centre for Quantum Optical Technologies, established under the International Research Agenda Programme operated by the Foundation for Polish Science and hosted by the Centre of New Technologies, University of Warsaw, seeks to fill several junior research positions in the Quantum Technologies Laboratory led by Professor Konrad Banaszek. Current research effort in the Laboratory covers problems related to quantum optical communication, quantum metrology, and quantum imaging. Ongoing international collaborations include the groups of Dr Christoph Marquardt at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Erlangen, Germany, Professor Matteo G. A. Paris at the University of Milan, Italy, and Professor F. Elohim Becerra at the University of New Mexico, USA. Research tasks combine elements of optical physics, quantum optics and photonics, as well as information theory, signal processing, and statistical methods. Applicants are expected to demonstrate experience commensurate with their level of education in at least one of these areas.

Available positions:
- Two postdoctoral research fellowships, duration up to 2 years, monthly gross salary in the range 7,600 PLN – 11,400 PLN depending on candidate’s qualifications. The fellowships are available to candidates who have held a doctoral degree for a period not longer than 5 years. The period begins in the year of obtaining the degree and expires in the year of applying for a position.
- Four PhD scholarships, duration up to 4 years, monthly stipend 4,500 PLN.
- Two student scholarships for students up to the Master level, duration up to 1 year, monthly stipend 1,500 – 2,000 PLN.
One PhD scholarship and the student scholarships are supported by the TEAM project Quantum Optical Communication Systems funded by Foundation for Polish Science.

It is expected that the candidates will be notified by 4th June 2018 and those shortlisted will be interviewed (remotely or in person) on 6th June 2018.
