Reference SCI1154
Closing Date Thursday, 19th July 2012
Department School of Mathematical Sciences
Salary £27578 to £32901 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

This full-time post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months.
Applications are invited for the above post to work with Dr Ivette Fuentes and Dr Gerardo Adesso on an EPSRC funded project on the overlap of quantum metrology and relativity. The research is aiming at developing relativistic quantum metrology by applying quantum metrology techniques to estimate with high precision, physical quantities that appear in quantum field theory. Candidates must be confident, organised, have good communication skills and enjoy working with a variety of different people across discipline boundaries.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in mathematics or physics and experience with quantum metrology. Knowledge of quantum information theory, quantum optics and/or quantum field theory is also desirable. As part of our commitment to promoting diversity we encourage applications from women.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Ivette Fuentes, email: ivette.fuentes@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
