There is a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher on “Experimental Quantum Information with Trapped Strontium Rydberg Ions” at Stockholm University. We are searching for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in experimental quantum optics and quantum information with trapped ions. The research will focus on the investigation of trapped strontium Rydberg ions, which is a novel approach for quantum information processing. It joins the high level of quantum control of trapped ions and the strong dipolar interaction between Rydberg atoms. For trapped ions this method promises to speed up entangling interactions and to enable such operations in larger ion crystals.
We have just recently seen the first signal of trapped strontium Rydberg ions and we are now very enthusiastic to explore this novel quantum system. The project is funded by the ERC starting grant QuaSIRIO of the European Union, and has been started at the University of Innsbruck from where it is currently moving to Stockholm University.
