quantum information

The C. N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics at Stony Brook University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in quantum information science with anticipated appointment date of September 1, 2012.

The Institute has a long tradition of interaction with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and Mathematics. Research in theoretical physics and related fields at the University is also enriched by the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics.

The group is composed of four main researchers, and we develop theoretical and experimental research in

Characterization of Entanglement and the geommetry of quantum states
Entanglement Quantification and measurement
Decoherence and Disentanglement
Entanglement in systems of identical particles
Cavity QED in atoms and solid state systems
Quantum properties of light
Coupled cavities and simulation of quantum many body systems
Entanglement and theory of resources

Here comes another round of attractive opportunities from the University of Nottingham: This is your chance to get a two-year PostDoctoral Fellowship (with flexible conditions, research expenses and support for childcare) to join the dynamic and young Quantum Information group in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham (Dr G. Adesso, Dr I. Fuentes, Dr M. Guta).

Head: Raul D. Rossignoli

Institution: University of La Plata

Research Areas: quantum phase transitions, finite temperature entangled states, entanglement in many-body systems and general quantum correlations.

The Summer School will take place at El Escorial, Spain (http://www.euroforum.es/), a nice and historic city about 50 km to the north of Madrid. See further information below and in the website.

The whole activity will focus primarily on the following topics:

* One-Way Quantum Computation and Statistical Mechanics
* Topological Codes and Statistical Models
* Random Statistical Mechanical Systems and Lattice Gauge Theories
* Quantum Information and Models of Discrete Quantum Gravity
