The group of Michael Kastoryano (mkastoryano.com) at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne invites applications for both PhD and Postdoctoral positions starting as soon as possible. The salary is based on the German TV-L E13 pay scale. Appointments will be for two years at 100% E13 for postdoctoral researchers and at 66% for three years for doctoral candidates.
The University of Surrey is committed to recruiting and supporting talented doctoral researchers, and our Doctoral College is pleased to be awarding up to 12 fully funded studentships to outstanding PhD candidates across a range of disciplines.
Please refer to the description of the various projects in Quantum computing/ quantum simulation here

Applications are invited for PhD positions in quantum algorithms at the National University of Ireland, Galway: Specific topics of interest include, amongst others, quantum walks and quantum game theory. Applicants should have an excellent undergraduate degree in one of theoretical physics / mathematics / computer science, or a masters degree, and should have strong skills in at
least two of the three areas just mentioned. For informal enquiries, email michael.mcgettrick@nuigalway.ie
The theory groups at the Institute for Quantum Information of the Jülich-Aachen Reasearch Alliance (JARA) are looking for highly motivated candidates to fill multiple PhD positions over the next few months (a DFG-funded position could start as soon as possible).
Multiple PhD and postdoc positions are available for topics in quantum computing and simulation.
Here are current topics of Molecular quantum dynamics and information theory laboratory (M-Qudit Lab.):
1. Quantum resource theory for quantum/classical computational complexity
2. Quantum simulation for molecular systems
3. Quantum algorithm for quantum chemistry
4. Open quantum dynamics
5. Molecular quantum processors
The PhD student will participate in the theoretical project “Two-component mixtures of a few attractive ultra-cold fermions” inspired by the most recent experiments in the field of ultra-cold gases confined in optical traps. The main objective is to perform very accurate, realistic numerical simulations which will bring us closer to a better understanding of physics of a few attractive fermions.
We have a fully funded PhD position available to work on the theory of cooperative effects in optomechanics and nanomechanics with André Xuereb (andre.xuereb@um.edu.mt) and Vittorio Peano (vittorio.peano@um.edu.mt) at the University of Malta. The project is theoretical, but we expect several strong interactions with many of our experimental colleagues. For more information please read the sample description at: https://goo.gl/rqtdiH
