Palacky University in Olomouc is announcing the 2-year position of a post-doctorate researcher in theory of quantum information processing based on quantum optics. The research will be focused on quantum key distribution and quantum phenomena in discrete or continuous variable systems.

The Center for Optics and Photonics (CEFOP), www.cefop.cl , funded by the Basal Program for Scientific and Technological Centers of Excellence (CONICYT), is calling for four postdoctoral research positions in experimental and theoretical nonlinear optics and quantum information. Applications are invited for a one-year (renewable) postdoctoral position to work on topics of quantum effects in mesoscopic physics starting from 1 February 2013. We offer two PhD/Post-Doc positions, available immediately, at the newly created Center for Optical Quantum Technologies (ZOQ). In a vibrant, communicative environment, we study a wide range of quantum phenomena, from technological aspects of ultra-cold atom systems to fundamental questions of many-body theory. We use both analytical approaches, e.g. field-theoretic descriptions, as well as numerical methods, such as simulations.

The positions are within a CQT research project led by Dimitris G. Angelakis. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a strong research background mainly in theoretical quantum optics. Exceptional candidates from condensed matter theory and/or quantum information theory will also be considered.

A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Alexander Korotkov at the University of California, Riverside. The research projects involve theory of quantum measurement, quantum feedback, and quantum computing with superconducting qubits. Applicants are expected to have previous experience at least in one of the following theoretical areas: quantum computing, quantum measurement, quantum trajectories, Josephson junction devices.

The University of Nottingham has opened the 2013 calls for Anne McLaren Fellowships (for outstanding female applicants with up to 4 years postdoctoral experience in scientific disciplines) and Nottingham Research Fellowships (for outstanding candidates with up to 6 years postdoctoral experience in all disciplines).

Currently, there is a postdoc opening in the Optical Quantum Communication Theory Group at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo. The research is centered around efficient use of quantum repeater architectures to distribute secret key over significant distances. We are looking for candidates who approach that problem with security and key rate in mind.
