We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for a fully-funded 4-year PhD position in tensor network simulations of strongly correlated quantum many body systems that parallel similar efforts with ultracold gases quantum simulators. The candidate is expected to have MSc in physics (at the time of enrollment) plus strong numerical and analytical skills. The emphasis is on developing new tensor network algorithms for simulations of quantum many body systems.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our group and work on the theoretical investigation of collective light–matter interactions, which give rise to exchange interactions and collective dissipation phenomena, such as subradiance and superradiance.

In robotics, many perception and control challenges are formulated as the optimization of complex, non-linear cost functions. A fundamental example is the estimation of a camera’s position and orientation from known correspondences between 3D points in the environment and their 2D projections on the image plane. This problem, known as the Perspective-n-Point (PnP) problem, is central to several key robotic applications, including localization, 3D reconstruction, and autonomous navigation.

The proposed work investigates the controlled generation and manipulation of highly multimode continuous variable entanglement among different frequency or temporal modes of light. Frequency- (temporal-) modes marry the advantage of achieving record numbers of entangled mode that can be separated thanks to multiplexing techniques. The proposed work will investigate high-dimension frequency entanglement generated by spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) in pulsed regimes. Entangled modes will be produced in non-linear waveguides operating in different conditions: such a configuration marries the advantage of a high-dimensional quantum alphabet with that of cutting down the physical size of optical systems, both crucial conditions for realistic quantum applications.
