The quantum nanophotonics and biosensing lab at U. New Mexico (PI: Victor Acosta) seeks highly motivated postdoctoral candidates for a project to develop novel optical NMR platforms based on nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. This is a highly multidisciplinary project that combines new techniques in optical nuclear polarization and NMR microscopy using NV centers in diamond nanostructures. The goal is to develop a microfluidic NMR microscope with high sensitivity and resolution.

2-year post-doc position will be devoted to study of fundamental bounds and optimal protocols in quantum metrology in presence of realistic noise models in optical and atomic systems both in single and multiparamter problems as well as investigations of connections between quantum metrology and quantum thermodynamics.

Post-doc position will be financed under the project “Photonic, Atomic and Thermodynamic Processes from a Quantum Metrological Perspective” financed by the Polish National Science Center under SONATA BIS programme.

The Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS, http://quics.umd.edu) is seeking exceptional candidates for the QuICS Hartree Postdoctoral Fellowships in Quantum Information and Computer Science.

The PhD student will participate in the theoretical project “Two-component mixtures of a few attractive ultra-cold fermions” inspired by the most recent experiments in the field of ultra-cold gases confined in optical traps. The main objective is to perform very accurate, realistic numerical simulations which will bring us closer to a better understanding of physics of a few attractive fermions.
