ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona (Spain), in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics (MPQ) in Garching (Germany), is currently offering a post-doctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young theoretician who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in the research area of theoretical quantum optics, quantum many-body physics, and quantum information theory in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will be part of strategic collaboration of the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching and ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona, and while being employed by MPQ, will be based at ICFO.
Strong collaboration with MPQ, and in particular with the theory group of Prof. Ignacio Cirac are expected. At ICFO the successful candidate will be associated with the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by Prof. Maciej Lewenstein and/or Quantum Information Theory group led by Prof. Antonio Acin. He/She will be involved in the research activities (current and emerging) within the area of quantum many-body physics (such as physics of ultracold atomic, ionic and molecular systems) and quantum information theory.
The successful candidate will work on projects in physics of ultracold gases and their usefulness for quantum information processing and quantum information aspects of the many-body physics.
