A two-year position on the development of quantum computing methods for molecular electronic structure is available at the Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy). The position is funded by an Innovation Grant of the National Centre for HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing. The research is in collaboration with ENI SpA and is devoted to calculation of molecular potential energy surfaces using compact wavefunctions, suitable for current NISQ devices.

Salary: Scale 7 (£39,347 - £42,978) - Full time/Fixed Term Contract

Applications are invited for the position of a 2-year Research Fellow on the Fault Tolerant Quantum Simulation project at the University of Portsmouth. The main project will involve the development of quantum simulation in the first- and second-quantised systems.

Quantum Computing Applications in Chemistry and Materials Science

The postdoctoral researcher, appointed for 2 years, will be responsible for developing new algorithms for the design and optimization of variational wavefunctions that can be implemented on NISQ (Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum) computers, using methods such as the Variational Quantum Eigensolver. The candidate should hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science or related topics.

I am happy to announce the opening of a 18-month postdoc position (extendable) in Theoretical Physics of Matter at the Physics Department of the University of Florence, in the group of Prof. Leonardo Banchi. The position is funded by the PRIN project “Understanding the learning process of quantum neural networks”, in collaboration with Giacomo De Palma (University of Bologna, Mathematics Department) and Dario Trevisan (University of Pisa, Mathematics Department).
